Jokowi Capitalizes G7 Summit to Hunt Investors for Strategic Projects

President Joko Widodo held several bilateral meetings with leaders of partner countries during the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan. On May 20, Jokowi met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. During these meetings, Jokowi offered investment opportunities in the nation's new capital city and various other projects.
Jokowi made a similar offer to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. He specifically urged South Korea to actualize the drinking water source project in IKN Nusantara while requesting Trudeau to encourage Canadian pension fund institutions to invest in IKN Nusantara.
Moreover, Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the support of G7 countries, including Canada, in assisting Indonesia's energy transition. "I hope that the immediate realization of US$20 billion in financial support can be achieved, but not in the form of debt," he said.
