Indonesia Offers Natuna's Seaweed Project to Korean Investors
The Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan offered South Korea projects for developing seaweed, fisheries, and building resorts in Natuna, Riau Islands.
On Tuesday at the Maekyung Indonesia Forum celebrating the 50th anniversary of Korea-Indonesia diplomatic relations in Jakarta, Luhut revealed that he offered these projects to the South Korean deputy minister of trade, industry and energy Jang Young Jin.
He also planned to establish a special task force to accelerate the project planning so that everything would be set by the time South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol visits Indonesia in September. "So, when President Yoon is visiting Indonesia in September, we have already signed a clear collaboration," Luhut said.
Indonesia is eager to partner with South Korea due to its advanced technology and its close ties. If realized, Indonesia will be able to establish an integrated seaweed industry, fisheries, or resorts for the elderly.
