Indah Kiat to Spend US$3.6 Bln in New Paper Mill

PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk (INKP) geared up to spend US$ 3.62 billion to build a new paper mill and its ancillary facilities. The mill will occupy approximately 350 hectares of land in Karawang, West Java.

Quoting information disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Monday, INKP’s management indicated that paper demand could persist in rising along with global economic growth.

INKP refers to data from the Fastmarkets RISI Index, which projects that the pulp, paper, tissue, and paper packaging industry will grow by 2 percent in 2021–2026.

“Paper demand growth is anticipated to decline by 2 percent, tissue paper growth will augment by 4 percent, and packaging paper growth will increase by 3 percent,” INKP’s management stated in a document.
