Govt to Open International Direct Flights to Labuan Bajo

The government has planned to open international direct flights to Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said that initially, the government would focus on flights from three countries: Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia. “These international flights will boost the number of foreign tourists to Labuan Bajo,” Sandiaga said on Monday.

At the same time, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi also announced that the government planned to improve service standards at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, as earlier ordered by President Joko Widodo. Budi claimed to have improved the security of the airport, thanks to the assistance provided by the Indonesian National Army (TNI), the police, and Foreign Affairs Ministry.
