Jokowi Ready to Process Asset Confiscation Bill

The Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD said a presidential letter (Surpres) to start the legislative process of the Bill (RUU) on Crime-Related Asset Confiscation would be handed over to the House of Representatives (DPR) in early May 2023.

According to him, it only requires President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's signature.

"It will reach DPR no later than next week," he said on Thursday while highlighting that the government had already finished formulating the bill's substance.

Despite requiring some redactions, the draft has also been signed by the Law and Human Rights Minister, the Finance Minister, the Attorney General, the Police Chief, and the Financial Transactions Reporting and Analysis Center (PPATK) head.
