Indomobil and Inchcape Take Over Mercedes Benz Business in Indonesia
A global automotive multi-brand distributor, Inchcape Motors Private Limited, partnered with local company PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional Tbk (IMAS) to take over the Mercedes-Benz assembly and sales business in Indonesia.
Mercedes-Benz AG has officially appointed the two companies to carry out the operational activities of PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia and PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia as an effort by the principals to optimize their business activities in the country.
"We are restructuring our business to strengthen our position in the Indonesian market," Head of Region Overseas Mercedes-Benz Cars Matthias Lührs said in his statement last week.
He stated that cooperating with experienced business partners in the automotive sector and transferring Mercedes-Benz vehicle manufacturing entities in Indonesia aligned with applicable government policies and regulations.
Inchcape APAC CEO Ruslan Kinebas said that with this takeover, it is hoped that Mercedes-Benz will become one of the brands with a strong influence in the national automotive industry. "We look forward to further developing the Mercedes-Benz business by combining our local knowledge and digital and data capabilities," he said.
