Pertamina to Decide on Masela Block Acquisition Next Month

PT Pertamina is currently studying and surveying the application of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology in the Masela Block, following the plan to acquire Shell Upstream Overseas Ltd's 35-percent participating interest (PI) in the work area.

"If the numbers are good, hopefully, Pertamina will make a decision in April," Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif said on Friday.

Some other global oil and gas companies are also reportedly interested in the block located in the Maluku Province. However, he was reluctant to give further detail. "Besides Pertamina, several others are also interested in the Masela Block. That is for sure, just wait," he said.
