Summary

The Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Panjaitan revealed that with Singapore's help, Indonesia would build a solar panel industry. Both countries are currently finalizing a project worth US$50 billion.

He also said that initially, Singapore only wanted to import electricity from Indonesian solar power plants (PLTS), but the Indonesian government required the neighboring country to help develop the solar panel industry as well.

"We don't want that. What we want is an end-to-end [partnership]. So, we have to build the solar panels, the industry, and the batteries here," he said on Wednesday.
