Jokowi to Curb Used Clothing Imports

Summary

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo will restrict used clothing imports. He also ordered his staff to find out what was causing it and fix this problem immediately. "I have ordered them to look for it. It's disrupting the domestic textile industry," he said on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Cooperatives, Small, and Medium Enterprises Minister Teten Masduki also had a similar sentiment. He referred to the Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 40/2022 on banned exported and imported goods.

Teten also claimed to have already asked the Customs and Excise Directorate General to put things in order. "It's not difficult because we have investigated it, apart from through social media, at Pasar Senen, Gedebage, and Pasar Baru. From there, it's easier to identify who the importers are," he said.
