IDFC Shows Strong Support for RNE Projects in Indonesia

Summary

International Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), a US-based organization, is committed to financing renewable energy (RNE) based power projects in Indonesia. "There is a high interest in diversifying the current generation assets into geothermal, wind, and solar. This sector is being developed in Indonesia, and we certainly want to participate in it," IDFC CEO Scot Nathan said on Wednesday.

Nathan stated that many business players in Indonesia are interested in obtaining financing from IDFC to accelerate renewable energy generation projects. However, he could not provide specific details about prospective projects that IDFC could finance.

He explained that IDFC is still studying the investment and sustainability of several power plant projects to assess the feasibility of future financing. "There are still several stages and procurements that need to be taken, and the auction process will further determine the tariff that can be set," Nathan said.
