Indonesia will bring up the rupiah digitization at the 2023 ASEAN Summit. Bank Indonesia deputy governor Dody Budi Waluyo said Indonesian delegations would also talk about economic recovery and sustainability in the medium to long term.

"We will bring up three priorities at the ASEAN meeting, which we consider important, especially in facing global changes," he said on Tuesday.

According to Dody, BI will try to accelerate the implementation of a region-based digital payment system to recover the economy. "In the short term, we will use inter-country QRIS. Indonesia and Thailand can use QRIS already. Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines will follow suit soon," he said. Besides, Indonesia has released a paper on the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
