Pertamina and Chevron to Work on CCS/CCUS Project in East Kalimantan

PT Pertamina and Chevron New Energies International Pte Ltd signed a Joint Study Agreement (JSA) to review the feasibility of carbon capture storage and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCS/CCUS) in East Kalimantan on Monday.
They signed this agreement on the sidelines of CERAWeek 2023 in Houston, USA.
“This new agreement will build momentum for our shared objectives of advancing Indonesia’s energy goals while pursuing a low-carbon future,” Chris Powers, Chevron New Energies CCUS Vice President, said.
Pertamina and Chevron have unique capabilities and a deep understanding of Indonesia’s geology to support the deployment of CCS/CCUS.
Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif appreciated Pertamina and Chevron’s consistent efforts to support Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target in 2060.
“CCS/CCUS is a very important initiative for the government’s decarbonization agenda. This partnership will create a strong foundation for achieving Indonesia’s energy transition goals,” Arifin said.
