South Sulawesi Faces Lack of Investment Incentive Regulations

The South Sulawesi Provincial Government (Pemprov) is taking steps to encourage the creation of regional regulations that provide incentives and ease of regional investment (PIKID) in each district and city.
Andi Aslam Patonangi, Acting Regional Secretary of South Sulawesi Province, has stated that almost all regions already have regional regulations focusing on ease of investment.
However, regions must also refer to the Job Creation Law to further support the acceleration of investment and economic growth. Andi notes that out of the 24 regencies/cities in South Sulawesi, only five regencies have initiated the process of preparing PIKID.
“By implementing PIKID, the business and investment sector in South Sulawesi can enjoy greater certainty. One of the most crucial strategies in restoring the post-pandemic economy is accelerating investment and providing legal certainty in investment,” he said.
