Indonesia and China Explores New Collaborations
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo welcomed Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday. They discussed several collaborations in the meeting, one of which was the construction of the Jakarta-Bandung fast train.
"The president conveyed several strategic partnerships that need to be intensified, starting from the completion of the high-speed rail project, the construction of a green industrial park in Kalimantan, the development of the Nusantara Capital City, to downstreaming efforts," Presidential Secretariat revealed in a statement.
Qin Gang will also chair the fourth meeting of the China-Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) with Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi. "We hope Minister Qin's visit to Indonesia can promote bilateral and multilateral strategic cooperation," Chinese foreign policy adviser Wang Yi said.
Meanwhile, Retno Marsudi demanded an immediate resolution of trade barriers between Indonesia and China and emphasized that ASEAN is not a proxy and does not represent any party.
