Energy Ministry: Indonesia's Gasoline Is Suitable for E10 Blend
The Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry suggested that Indonesian gasoline is suitable for the E10 blend, a mixture of ten percent bioethanol and 90 percent gasoline.
Director general of renewables Dadan Kusdiana even argued that a blend with higher bioethanol content would not negatively affect the machine. This is because most vehicle engines have adopted flex engine technology, which can use a mixture of two different types of fuel.
Moreover, mixing bioethanol with gasoline can improve fuel quality, such as increasing the octane number and reducing the levels of harmful compounds in the fuel. "The gasoline-type fuel in Indonesia can already accommodate a mixture with bioethanol. A ten-percent blend of bioethanol and Pertamax is already possible," he told Katadata.co.id on Wednesday.
