Lack of "Decorum" Blocked the Emergency Law on Job Creation

The plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Thursday did not pass the Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2/2022 on Job Creation becomes law. In fact, at a meeting of the DPR's Legislative Body (Baleg) on Wednesday, the majority of the factions agreed to bring the emergency law to the DPR's plenary session, for a vote to become law.
During the meeting at the Legislative Body, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Deputy Minister of Religion Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower Anwar Sanusi were present as representatives government.
However, according to Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Body Achmad Baidowi, the procedure for scheduling a plenary meeting must go through a DPR Deliberation Body (Bamus) meeting or a consultative meeting to replace the Bamus. The consultation meeting to replace Bamus, which set the schedule for the plenary meeting yesterday, has not yet scheduled the ratification of the Job Creation Perppu as an agenda item. Thursday morning, before the plenary session, a consultation meeting should have been held to replace the Bamus. However, due to time constraints, the plan was eventually canceled.
