Summary

The UK government will invest US$1.2 billion in the MRT Phase III East-West Line project on the Balaraja-Cikarang route. UK Export Minister Andrew Bowie said United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF) had sent an Expression of Interest (EOI) to fund the project. According to Bowie, the UK will bring infrastructure and finance experts to support Indonesia's transportation development.

PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) President Director Tuhiyat said this investment is a follow-up of cooperation with the UK in the railway sector. Some examples of such cooperation are improving human resources with Crossrail International and preparing the Lebak Bulus development master plan with ARUP. "During the G20 in Bali, we have also signed a Letter of Intent," he said on Feb 3, 2023.
