CoHive's Bankruptcy Signals Bleak Outlook for Coworking Spaces

The Central Jakarta Commercial Court declared CoHive coworking space operator PT Evi Asia Tenggara bankrupt after filing for a Debt Payment Obligation Suspension (PKPU) in Sept 2022. "Declaring the PKPU respondent in a state of bankruptcy with all its legal consequences as of the pronouncement of the verdict," the Commercial Court announced on Jan 26.

The supervisory judge and curator agreed that creditors and tax officers could face the first hearing on Feb 1. Meanwhile, bills can be submitted to the curatorial team with a deadline of Feb 9. The court scheduled a debt-matching meeting between creditors and respondents on Feb 27. R. Bernadette Samosir will act as the bankruptcy supervisory judge, while Rio Sadrack M. Pantouw and Beny Marnala Pasaribu will make up the curatorial team.
