Finance Minister Sri Mulyani is rumored to be one of the candidates considered by President Joko Widodo to become the next Governor of Bank Indonesia, replacing Perry Warjiyo, whose term of office will end in May 2023.

Even so, the House Finance Commission Member Hendrawan Supratikno said no letter or name proposal from Jokowi had entered the House regarding candidates for BI Governor for the next period. He explained that the candidates are the president's authority, so the names proposed certainly have a reliable reputation and vast relations. "It's not appropriate if we mention names. The names proposed are the government's authority, in this case, the president. We must respect each other's duties and authorities," Hendrawan said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani did not comment much on the news. "Regarding the BI governor, the process has been regulated in the law. The four of us remain focused on taking care of the work in the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) because that is our main task," Sri said at the KSSK press conference at the Finance Ministry office in Jakarta on Tuesday.
