Indonesia Considers Buying Ammunition from Safran Group

Defense Ministry is exploring an offer for Armement Air-Sol Modulaire (AASM) Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) missiles from French company Safran Group. This plan was revealed in a meeting between the Defense Ministry's Director of Defense Industry Engineering, First Marshal Wajariman, and Senior Vice-President of Safran Electronics & Defense Martin Klotz, accompanied by the French Defense Attache, in Jakarta, on Jan 19.
Defense Ministry website stated that HAMMER might be used as one of the weapons for the Dassault Rafale fighter jets to be acquired by the Air Force. According to Wajariman, cooperation with the French defense industry is a priority, judging from the large number of weapons purchased from the country. The procurement contract would be implemented directly between the ministry and Safran Group to make it more efficient "by applying Local Content and Offset (KLO) obligations under prevailing regulations," he said.
