486 Companies Propose Higher Coal Production This Year

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is optimistic that coal output can increase to 694.5 million tons this year from 684.87 million tons in 2022, referring to Minerba One Data Indonesia (MODI). Last year's output exceeded the target set by the Energy Ministry at 663 million tons.

Director of Coal Business Development Lana Saria said as many as 749 coal mining companies had received approval for the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB). "The rest are still under submission and evaluation. 486 out of 749 companies proposed higher production," she said on Tuesday. On the other hand, 263 companies proposed lower production targets than last year.
