BTPN, SMBC Pump US$93.75 Mln Green Financing into PLN

PT Bank BTPN Tbk (BTPN) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) agreed to provide US$93.75 million, or Rp 1.46 trillion, green financing to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) as part of US$750-million syndicated loan signed on Friday. Bank BTPN and SMBC will jointly pose as coordinating mandated lead arrangers, bookrunners, and green loan coordinators.
The green financing facility aims to help PLN's energy transition. "We are committed to channeling sustainable financing for environmentally sound business activities to support the government's sustainable development," Bank BTPN head of wholesale and commercial banking Nathan Christianto said Monday. According to him, green financing is allocated for corporate customers who support sustainability, such as through renewable energy projects.
