Telkom, Singtel, Medco Venture into Hyperscale Data Center

PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk, Singtel, and PT Medco Power officially agreed to build a hyperscale data center in Batam, Riau Archipelago. "The joint venture between Telkom, Singtel, and Medco Power will build a 51-megawatt data center to serve the Singapore market," SOEs deputy minister Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said in the facility's groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday.

Kartika also explained that the project's financing would be carried out gradually. The first phase will expectedly require around US$198 million or more than Rp 3.08 trillion. In this joint venture, Telkom holds the highest stake at 60 percent, followed by Singtel [35 percent], and Medco Power [five percent]. Meanwhile, Telkom president director Ririek Adriansyah revealed that the data center construction would be divided into three stages or campuses, each with a capacity of 17 MW, and is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2024.
