Prof. Dr. Subroto, Minister of Mines and Energy for the period 1978-1988 in the era of President Soeharto, died on Tuesday. "He passed away on Dec 20 at 4.25 PM in Jakarta at the age of 99," citing the sad news that Katadata.co.id received from Bimasena, the Mining and Energy Society, which was founded and chaired by Subroto.

The departure of this energy leader left deep sorrow for several stakeholders in the energy and mineral resources sector. One of them is PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) President Director Hilmi Panigoro. Moreover, Subroto was once an adviser at Medco Group. Since joining the Medco Group, Subroto has provided many brilliant ideas and advice.

His ideas and advice have enabled Medco Group to play a part at the national and international levels. "The management and extended family of Medco Group deeply grieve and will miss him very much. The services and example he showed will always be a role model for us," Hilmi said in a written statement.
