Summary

The European Commission released a "Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List" report in Dec 2022. It contains the results of the European Commission's discussions and consultations with brand owners, copyright holders, associations, and federations focusing on intellectual property rights violations. The updated report showed Bukalapak is no longer on the piracy watch list.

Segara Institute executive director Piter Abdullah suggested the government keep protecting copyrights and intellectual property rights in online marketplaces such as Bukalapak and tighten monitoring of pirated goods sales in e-commerce. "The e-commerce competition is getting tougher. Bukalapak has to find market gaps that they can seize to expand its market share," Piter said on Tuesday.
