Coal Miners Beg for Mining License Reinstatement

Coal Mining
Summary

The Indonesian Energy and Coal Suppliers Association (Aspebindo) general chairperson Anggawira revealed that some of the association's members questioned the government's decision to keep them unlicensed until the end of this year. "Many of us from Aspebindo are distraught since our mining licenses have been revoked," Anggawira said at the Aspebindo National Working Meeting (Rakernas): Indonesia Energy and Mineral Conference (IEMC) 2022 on Monday.

Anggawira hopes that the government can provide clarity regarding the revoked IUPs. Many mining companies had invested greatly to secure the licenses and the revocations and stopped their investments. "Mining licenses of many of our members, large and the small, even for state-owned enterprises in regions are now being revoked by the task force [of land use and investment arrangements]," he said.
