Citi Pours Rp 275 Bln ESG Financing into Home Credit

Citi Indonesia pumped Rp 275 billion worth of environmental, social and governance (ESG) financing into Home Credit. Citi Indonesia CEO Batara Sianturi said the funds aim to improve public financial inclusion by purchasing basic digital devices such as smartphones and tablets for 44,600 people. "It's for community groups that are left behind so that they can purchase basic digital devices," Batara said on Tuesday.
Home Credit Indonesia director Volker Giebitz specified that the scheme was designed for female customers, accounting for 48 percent of the total Home Credit customers. It is in line with efforts to improve financial inclusion and literacy for women, at 83.88 percent and 50.33 percent, respectively. "Women's inclusion rate is still 2.4 percent, below men," he elaborated.
