Summary

The energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) has confirmed that the Andaman Block II operator, Harbour Energy, will resume drilling three exploration wells offshore Aceh next year. However, the initial exploration drilling results at the Timpan-1 well did not meet expectations.

"In 2023, it is planned to drill around three wells in the Andaman II," Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji said in a hearing with the House of Representatives Energy Commission on Tuesday. According to the plan, Harbour Energy will conduct exploration drilling in Halwa, Timpan-2, and Layaran wells in the southern Andaman II Block.

Meanwhile, Harbour Energy is still carrying out seismic survey activities in Andaman II, covering an area of 3,620 square kilometers. "Drilling at the Timpan-1 well in Andaman II Block has been completed," Tutuka said.
