Freeport Indonesia to Reach Full Capacity in 2023

Summary

PT Freeport Indonesia aims to produce 230,000 tons of copper and gold ores per day next year. Freeport Indonesia president director Tony Wenas revealed that it had been the company's target this year. As of the end of 2022, the US-based mining company targets to increase its production capacity by up to 90 percent. "Next year, it is estimated that the production capacity will reach 100 percent or around 230,000 tons of ore per day on average, and that will be the peak or 100 percent of the underground mining plan," Tony elaborated on Wednesday.

According to Tony, Freeport Indonesia will keep increasing its production capacity until 2041 or until the Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) expires. "Even though the reserves can still be exploited beyond 2041, our business plan and IUPK's expiration date are up to 2041," he said.
