Govt Merges Tangguh LNG, Kasuri Block to Support West Papua Industries
The Upstream Oil and Gas Business Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas) plans to merge the Kasuri and Tangguh LNG Working Areas (WK) as one of the priority programs in 2023. SKK Migas Head Dwi Soetjipto said that the effort to combine blocks and gas projects aims to accelerate the development of industrial estates in West Papua. "Kasuri working areas can start immediately by integrating with Tangguh. This is the solution for developing industry in West Papua," Dwi said on Monday, Dec 5.
Genting Oil Kasuri Pte Ltd manages Kasuri Working Area, while BP Berau Ltd manages Tangguh. "From Tangguh, 90 million cubic feet per day [MMSCFD] can be used for petrochemical factories in the Bintuni Bay Industrial Area," Dwi said. Meanwhile, gas from the Kasuri WK can supply the fertilizer industry.
