AirAsia's parent company Capital A plans to build a giant airline called AirAsia Aviation Group. AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes said AirAsia Aviation Group would oversee AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines, AirAsia X Malaysia, and Thai AirAsia X. "This is not a merger. We are just incorporating the airline into AirAsia X. AirAsia X will be renamed AirAsia Aviation Group," Tony said on Monday.

Capital A, formerly AirAsia Group Bhd, is the parent company of AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Philippines, and AirAsia Indonesia. Meanwhile, AirAsia X oversees AirAsia X Malaysia and Thai AirAsia X. According to Fernandes, these airlines will operate separately even though they are under one holding. Later, AirAsia Aviation Group will have 225 aircraft operated by each airline after consolidation. Later, AirAsia will receive new Airbus A321 aircraft.
