Govt Establishes Special Team to Watch Business Activities in Forests
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK) is socializing the implementation of Job Creation Law (UU) No. 11/2020, including its derivative law and the Government Regulation (PP) No. 24/2021 on procedures for imposing sanctions and non-Tax state revenues from administrative fines in the forestry sector. This is related to plantation business activities in forest areas.
Environment Minister Siti Nurbaya has even established a Unit for Implementation, Supervision, and Control of the Job Creation Law Implementation in the Environment and Forestry Sector. Its chairman is Bambang Hendroyono, who also served as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. This team includes ten working groups (pokja).
One of the tasks is to oversee oil palm plantations in forest areas referred to in Article 110A and Article 110B of the Job Creation Omnibus Law. Based on these regulations, the state has abundant potential to receive revenue from oil palm plantations in forest areas. For example, palm plantations in a forest area of 10,000 hectares and a plantation age of 15 years may generate non-tax state revenue (PNBP) of Rp 500 billion.
