Summary

The governments of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia agreed to strengthen the tourism sector partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Indonesia's Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Saturday said that the meeting with the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al Khatieb was "the first post-G20 follow-up where we expect Saudi Arabia's investment, especially in the tourism infrastructure."

According to Sandiaga, one of the projects discussed with Ahmed Al Khatieb was the construction of cable cars in several leading tourism destinations, such as Puncak Pass in Bogor, West Java. The MoU covers several important matters, including data exchange, best practices exchange, and joint promotion between the two countries. Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have also established investment cooperation, publications that will focus on education, training, research and development in the tourism sector, as well as comprehensive cooperation in international forums.
