Summary

PT Kapuas Prima Coal Tbk (ZINC) has completed a US$15 million lead smelter capable of producing 40,000 tons of concentrate. Currently, the base metal producer is building a zinc smelter with a capacity of 83,000 tons of concentrate, targeting to operate in the third quarter of next year. Kapuas Prima Coal Director Evelyne Kioe said the operation of the two smelters would undoubtedly boost the company's revenue next year.

This year, ZINC has allocated US$10 million to US$12 million in capital expenditure to build tunnel infrastructure, improve work safety, and increase the number of heavy equipment. However, Evelyne admitted Kapuas Prima Coal's sales performance would face challenges due to unstable base metal commodity prices. "This will greatly affect the company's sales target this year of Rp 650 billion," Evelyne said in a written statement on Wednesday.
