No Communique from FMCBG, How's the Fate of G20 Summit?

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting on Oct 12-13 failed to conclude any communique. Dian Lestari, Head of the Center for Climate Change and Multilateral Financing Policy at the Ministry of Finance, said the meeting only resulted in the G20 Chair's Summary. According to her, the absence of the communique was due to the members' disagreement on the issue of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Nevertheless, Dian said the FMCBG meeting in July-Oct 2022 reached a Chair Summary which is also important. "This is a powerful Chair Summary as important as a communique," Dian said on Friday.

Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency Febrio Kacaribu said that although there was no communique, Indonesia, as the holder of the G20 presidency, is trying to find common ground to implement actual programs in various fields. "We prioritize actual deliverables, mobilize funds, and work together for world recovery. That's our legacy as the G20 presidency," he said.
