Govt to Inject Capital into Gesits Electric Motorcycle Producer

State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry plans to increase capital for the Gesits electric motorcycle manufacturer PT Wika Industri Manufaktur (WIMA) in line with the plan to accelerate the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country. Deputy SOE Minister I Pahala Nugraha Mansury said the additional capital could increase the WIMA electric motorcycle production capacity without detailing the amount.

"We will develop Gesits; we plan to increase capital in Gesits so that it can increase their production capacity soon," Pahala said on Sunday. According to him, increasing Gesits' production capacity will significantly impact efforts to accelerate the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. Thus, people can immediately switch to electric vehicles.

Moreover, accelerating the electric vehicle ecosystem establishment can absorb excess electricity supply from Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). Moreover, Pahala said the excess supply would increase by 7 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 2022.
