Summary

Indonesia's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) further expanded to 53.7 in Sept from 51.7 a month earlier. Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency Febrio Kacaribu said the rising PMI indicated that Indonesia's manufacturing sector has been consistently expanding for thirteen consecutive months and has strengthened in the last two months.

"Increasing manufacturing expansion shows a continued increase in domestic demand and exports. This happened amid escalating global risks," Febrio said on Wednesday, adding that the government's policy to absorb global risks effectively maintains the momentum of strengthening economic recovery.

Overall, Febrio said business sentiment in Indonesia's manufacturing sector remains positive, supported by expectations of a stronger and more sustainable recovery on the demand side. "Optimizing the state budget this year and next year will maintain the positive public demand trend."
