Preemptive Announcement to Defend Anies

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan was officially announced as a presidential candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election by the NasDem Party. The announcement was made by Nasdem Chairman Surya Paloh at NasDem Tower, Monday morning.

In his speech, Surya said that the presidential candidate's decision was expected to bring national unity. NasDem sees that currently, Indonesia needs a leader who can accelerate all the progress that has been achieved. "What Nasdem wants to look for is the best among the good. This is why Nasdem chose the figure of Anies Baswedan," he said.

Anies, who also attended the announcement, expressed his willingness to run for the presidential election. However, he asked to be given the opportunity to complete his duties in Jakarta. "With all humility, asking for prayers from all, hoping for the blessing and guidance from God, Insha Allah, this long journey will not be a hard journey, but a light and easy journey," he said.
