Survey: Ganjar Dominates, Prabowo's Political Engine More Decisive
A survey by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) noted that Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo dominated several presidential candidate simulations. However, Ganjar can lose if he goes head to head against Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. CSIS made three simulations involving potential names in the presidential candidacy. Each simulation ranked 14, seven, and three names, respectively. In all these simulations, the PDI-P politician outperformed all names, including Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and General Chair of the Gerindra Party currently serving as the Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
In the simulation of 14 names, Ganjar excels with 25.9 percent electability, surpassing Prabowo in second place with 19.2 percent and Anies with 18.1 percent. The seven-name simulation ranked Ganjar first with 26.9 percent, followed by Prabowo (20.1 percent) and Anies (19.9 percent). Meanwhile, in the simulation with three names, Ganjar's electability hit 33.3 percent, followed by Prabowo (27.5 percent) and Anies (25.7 percent).
Despite losing in all simulations, Anies was particularly superior in a head-to-head contest against Ganjar. The Jakarta governor leads with 47.8 percent electability against Ganjar's 43.9 percent. Aside from those three names, there were also West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, and Democratic Party general chair Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) competing for the fourth to sixth position with the electability of around 2-17 percent.
