The government and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) are finalizing plans for household energy transition by converting LPG stoves to electric or induction cookers. PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said the stove conversion trial had been underway in Solo, Denpasar, and one North Sumatran city. "For each kilogram of LPG converted to electric stoves, there is a cost savings of Rp 8,000," Darmawan said on Wednesday.

Darmawan also claimed that the electric stove conversion program for 5 million beneficiaries could save the energy subsidy budget up to Rp 5.5 trillion per year. Taufiek Bawazier, Director General of the Metal, Machinery, Transportation and Electronic Equipment Industry at the Industry Ministry, claimed that induction cooker and electric stove producers would participate in the conversion program starting in 2023.
