France Eyes Indonesia’s Satellite, Cloud Projects

Smartphone and Global Internet
Summary

Communications and Information Minister Johnny Plate met French Foreign Trade Minister Olivier Becht on Wednesday. According to Johnny, the meeting discussed three digital transformation projects: Satria 1 satellite, government cloud or national data center, and digital broadcasting. "The final phase will discuss the financing," he said.

According to Johnny, the meeting also explores cooperation in satellite procurement. He said that Indonesia's capacity is only 230 Gigabytes per second, far lower than Indonesia's satellite demand of 1 Terabyte per second. Thus, there is still a shortage of 700 Gigabytes per second. "The French government is eager to support digital transformation, especially infrastructure on the upstream," he said.
