Summary

Iceland-based BBN Cargo Airlines Holdings opened a new airline in Indonesia on August 31. The new airline, named BBN Airlines Indonesia, will serve air cargo services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. "With the growth of exports and imports as well as the rapidly growing trend of e-commerce, Indonesia has a promising future for the cargo industry," BBN Cargo Airlines Commissioner Martynas Grigas said on Wednesday.

Grigas said e-commerce transactions in Indonesia could reach half of the Southeast Asian market by 2025. "We see this as a great opportunity and are excited to develop a cargo airline to meet market needs," he said. Currently, BBN Airlines Indonesia is obtaining an Aviation business license and Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC). The airline will operate in the second quarter of 2023.
