'Hot Autumn' Is Here: The Risk of Civil Unrest Rises in 101 Countries
The Civil Unrest Index 2022 report released by Verisk Maplecroft predicts, that out of 198 countries, the risk of social unrest increases in 101 countries due to the global economic crisis. According to the global risk intelligence company, supply disruptions and the war in Ukraine triggered supply chain disruptions that caused high inflation in many countries.
The data, covering the last seven years, showed that the last quarter of this year saw the world facing an unprecedented rise in civil unrest since the Index was released. The impact is evident across the globe, with popular discontent over rising living costs due to rising food and energy prices emerging on the streets of developed and emerging markets alike, stretching from the EU, Latin America, and Asia.
