Gilimanuk-Mengwi Toll Road to Support New Economic Zone in Bali
The government started the groundbreaking for the Jagat Kerthi Gilimanuk-Mengwi Toll Road project in Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Sept 10. Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the 96.21-kilometer toll road will be completed in 2025. "What we are doing is just catching up in infrastructure," he said.
According to Basuki, Bali Governor I Wayan Koster will directly oversee the toll road construction. "This is a toll road in Bali, an international tourist area, a world tourist area. We have to show that we build good-quality toll roads," he said.
Meanwhile, Wayan Koster said the Jagat Kerthi Bali Toll Road is the first toll road equipped with additional facilities such as bicycle and motorcycle lanes. He claimed that the construction of this toll road would positively impact the balance of economic development in North, South, East, West, and Central Bali.
