President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo signed Presidential Regulation No. 109/2022 on the Ratification of the Flight Information Region (FIR) Agreement between Indonesia and Singapore. This agreement is a step forward for international recognition of Indonesia's airspace. He claimed that the FIR agreement could positively impact state revenues.

With this regulation, the air space in the Riau and Natuna Islands, which Singapore has long managed, is now taken over. "This agreement is a step forward for international recognition of Indonesia's airspace, which at the same time increases the guarantee of aviation safety and security and can increase non-tax state revenues," Jokowi said Thursday, adding that the takeover may serve as a momentum for aviation navigation equipment modernization and the development of human resources in aviation.
