President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated former Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas as Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PAN-RB). Anas replaces Tjahjo Kumolo, who died on July 1. Previously, since January 13, Anas has served as Head of the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP).

Jokowi said that he did not give a special message to Anas as the PAN-RB Minister. According to him, Anas has understood his upcoming duty. "When he served as Regent of Banyuwangi, I saw a lot of innovations in the field of public services. So he really mastered his job, not just understands," Jokowi revealed.
