Nestle Asks for PLN's Incentives for Rooftop Solar Power Plants

PT Nestle Indonesia is interested in increasing the use of renewable energy if it gets incentives from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). Nestle Indonesia president director Ganesan Ampalavanar asked for PLN's willingness to purchase the energy surplus from the plants in their factories. Nestle Indonesia's green electricity currently comes from biomass boilers at the Kejayan Factory, East Java, and the Karawang Factory, West Java. "In investing in installing solar panels, one of the things we need is if we have a surplus of energy, we must be given the opportunity to become a PLN supplier backlog," Ganesan said in the Katadata SAFE 2022 webinar with the theme Sustainability Action for The Future Economy, Tuesday.
However, PLN's Executive Vice President of Electricity System Planning Edwin Nugraha Putra explained that Nestle Indonesia's request was essentially different from the green lifestyle, a common reason behind rooftop solar panel installations. "Of course, PLN needs to recalculate the financial impact if it decides to meet Nestle Indonesia's incentive request," he said.
