Summary

PT ThorCon Power Indonesia will spend up to Rp 17 trillion to develop and build a 500 megawatts (MW) Thorium Molten Salt Reactor (TMSR). ThorCon plans to build the nuclear reactor on a remote island 32 kilometers from Bangka Island.

ThorCon Power Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Bob Effendi is optimistic that the company can develop TMSR in Indonesia because it has numerous advantages in terms of technology and economy. Currently, Thorcon is completing the studies requested by the government, targeting completion in October this year. "When everything is finished, we will submit it to the government. And, if it is agreed upon with the preamble and the government, we expect it can become a national strategic project [PSN] this year," Bob told Kontan.co.id.
