Summary

The Ministry of Social Affairs will revise Law No. 9/1961 on Money and Goods Collection (PUB) – the basis for the operation of philanthropic institutions. This revision is part of the reform following the scandal involving the philanthropic organization Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT). Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini said the revision occurred after the government updated the Minister of Social Affairs Regulation No. 8/2021 on Money or Goods Collection.

Risma said that she would form a task force with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and other law enforcement officials, including the police, prosecutors, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and Corruption Eradication Commission, and the Ministry of Communications and Information. Deputy Attorney General for Civil and State Administration at the Attorney General's Office, Feri Wibisono, said that a joint monitoring mechanism is necessary considering that many social foundations misused donation funds.
