QRIS Will Be Accepted in 5 ASEAN Countries, Who Reap the Benefits?

Bank Indonesia (BI) continues to expand the use of the QR Indonesia Standard (QRIS) payment system. Recently, BI targets QRIS to be used in four ASEAN countries. Currently, BI and four ASEAN central banks are working together to implement cross-border payments this year. With this collaboration, Indonesians can transact using QRIS when traveling to four other countries in ASEAN.
BI targets QRIS cooperation in ASEAN can be implemented during the G20 Summit in November 2022. "Our next step is the ASEAN-5 regional cooperation in QR payments, fast payments using local currencies. We are targeting the signing of the MoU for the five leaders in November this year," BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said recently. The countries participating in this cooperation are the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. The collaboration includes payments using QR codes and BI Fast payments.
